Acupressure

If you are willing to try out something out of the ordinary, then I recommend you try this method! Advocates of traditional medicine would recommend trying an ancient Chinese tradition called the acupressure. This tradition revolves around the belief that the body is composed of pressure points. These pressure points are believed to allow access to the internal organs even though the points are just situated on the surface parts of the body. The right acupressure will help to improve the function of your digestive system.

Acupuncturists recommend the pressure point called Large Intestine Four in order to relieve constipation. This point is not studied extensively for constipation but there are reports that say it works. The point is located at the most elevated spot when the index finger and the thumb are placed close together. A very important word of advice though: never ever do these when you are pregnant! This might have deleterious effects on the unborn fetus!

To do this, place both the index finger and the thumb together. Place the middle finger, or the thumb, at a 90-degree angle with respect to the skin surface. Apply pressure, which should gradually increase and then held constant for about three minutes. It is important that the pressure exerted should not inflict pain or discomfort.

This is a short video demonstration I found on youtube about the constipation and acupressure.
